At least you learn morals from a Mary-Sue. At the same time being selfish can be a good thing if portrayed correctly.

By far. A Mary-Sue can be an interesting character and a good role model sometimes.

I don't care for Sue characters, ever.

Sues are rarely if ever interesting.

Mary-Sues aren't bad if they're done right.

EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Disney Princesses IS SELFISH. ALL OF THEM ARE. So...skipping that part. The Mary-Sue thing never really bothered me much.

Unless the moral of the story is learning to get over her selfishness, it just feels like it validates and encourages real kids' selfishness, which I am not about at all.

Some Sues aren't bad. then again, sometimes a heroine will learn from selfishness. Plus as 8804 said, all (or most anyway) have selfish moments.

And nobody can ever agree on who a Sue is, so what is a Sue to some may not be to others. that's why it's always listed on the "Your Mileage May Vary" section of every TVtropes page for movies and stuff.

I don't really mind Mary Sues.

TBH most of the Princesses are not Sues, tbh. If we just go by the term "female character who has no flaws that hinder on the plot and the world centers around them". In my opinion:

Sues - Snow White, Aurora, Belle, Rapunzel, Moana

Not Sues - Cinderella, Ariel, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Merida, Anna, Elsa

The term has lost any meaning nowadays tho. People just throw it around as the insult du jour without taking into consideration what it can mean. A Sue can be anything at this point. (Hence why it's rather fair to admit most people claim it to describe a female character they don't like)

I think it's a term that should've just stuck for fanfiction and leave it at that.
