Yes I consider both because I think it's only fair when rating them and analyzing who they are as people as different genetics and environments will have different set of issues and strengths. I also factor the culture they grow up in as well.

I know their genetics, yes, and I know how they were raised, by watching the movie (duh). But since children only take up some of their parent's habits ( assuming genetic recombination and heredity), the Five Factor Model is a better way of looking at what personalities exist. The Five Factor Model contains the following personality traits: "Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness" on a spectrum scale for each person.

Therefore, I examine the DP and their parent's personalities individually. As is the case most times, the DP's personality will diverge quite a bit from their parent's and will not be exactly the same. And since the parents aren't technically within the DP lineup...while I will look over their personality traits, I usually won't let them factor into my decision to dislike/be neutral/to like/or to love the DP. For me, my assessment and therefore ranking/rating of the DP is based solely on both her own personality and her own actions. I also rate the parents based exclusively on just their own personalities and their actions, but this does not impact how I rate the DP.

^ Including their genetics or environments raised in, is still basing it on themselves because they are half their mother and father genetically themselves and their environment is going to influence their beliefs and behavior. :)

i consider more of how they are raised as a person have a unique combination of DNA, not half and half of their parents. They take some genes from them but develop their own too. But how they learn to make use of their behavioral traits is how they were taught by parents/environment/circumstances is more important for me and looks for individualistic.

^ They do actually get exactly half of their mom and half of their dad's DNA and that is their unique code as their parents are each half and half of their own parents. They just sometimes get genes that become dominant for them but might have been recessive for their parents etc. Science proves that we do get exactly half of our genes from each parent though, that's how the DNA coding works.

We don't just "develop our own genes", that is impossible without a mutation. I think you were referring to what I mentioned earlier, a trait that might be "recessive" with the parent but "dominant" in a child which would seem like a "new" trait to someone who didn't know what the parent's genetics were. :) Sorry for being a nerd about it, I just think sharing information is a nice thing to do though. :)
