Since Atlantica isn't far off, and they've got all that Caribbean music in Atlantica, I always assumed that. But one of the richer, more upscale islands that had big estates way back when, like Jamaica or something. I also think I read somewhere that it was set in the Caribbean, or at least not in Europe.

The original Little Mermaid book took place in Denmark, so I think the movie takes place there. If not, Caribbean Islands

I've always been confused about that because there aren't any palm trees in Denmark. But then if you look closely in the background there's a Windmill. It definitely looks too warm to be in Denmark. I figured it had to be somewhere in the Mediterranean. So either Portugal, Italy, or Greece.

I don't know my geography so I'm just picking Denmark.

I don't think it's Denmark because it isn't exactly open to Atlantic ocean. It has to be open to Atlantic ocean because they aren't talking about sea, but ocean, and the legend of Atlantica says that Atlantica sunk in Atlantic ocean. Besides, Denmark isn't that warm.

^^There's a legend of Atlantica? I thought that was Atlantis? Atlantica and Atlantis are two different things- Atlantica is fake, made up by Disney (as far as we know . . .) and there is strong evidence that Atlantis was real.

But I agree with you, it probably wasn't Denmark. It's actually more probably Portugal than Denmark, because Portugal was once a great ocean power and it's closer to the open sea.

^^It's fine. We all have a spazzy moment once in a while. It's sort of my bad too- I thought that it was known as Atlantis in all cultures and languages.
