Fanpop Article: UNIVERSAL WARNING -- PLEASE READ

For reasons as of yet unknown, Fanpop seems to have something against the website b 1 o g s p o t . c o m -- posting pautan from this site will cause anda to get temporarily suspended.
We first noticed this when I tried to link a blog from that site with my 'main' account, lucius_malloy, and got temporarily suspended. Later this happened with a total of six other accounts: luciusmalloy (my first back-up account), harrypotterbest, Accio_Pandorica, lumiss, Gemonkus and germany123.
We have contacted Fanpop about this issue and are hoping for a reply soon, but in the mean time, we are warning anda against posting pautan from the site-that-shall-not-be-named for fear of suspension. Feel free to test out this theory if anda want, but it is advised anda do it with a separate account created for this purpose. If anda do get banned because of this atau have at some point gotten banned because of this, please inform me sejak either commenting on this artikel atau Penulisan on my dinding so we can add anda to the senarai of banned users.
Today is 4/2/2011. I sent Fanpop a letter yesterday, 3/2/2011, in which I explained the problem and asked for a response. If I have not gotten one sejak 6/2/2011, I will post that letter as an artikel in this spot and others, and possibly write a new one.

misanthrope86 Thanks cassie, you got more information outta her than I did! Detail is key when trying to work out a problem like this. SO, you were posting those links within a FORUM, not the links section? You didn't say that before. But I think you have your answer write there: spam filter. If you tried posting the same link repeatedly within a forum, I think the spam filter would for sure have picked that up as spam. Like cassie said, knowing what was posted (I know you said a couple of blogs, but you didn't say anything about the content, like I asked) and if you had said that these links were posted in a forum right from the start, that would have made things even clearer even quicker. Details, details, details. Thanks cassie and germany for backing me up on this, because I was starting to think I had gone insane.

malloy THANK YOU, Accio. Now could some one tell me why a link would get caught in the spam filter if it's posted in a forum? I've posted plenty of links in forums before. And if you really think it'll make a difference, here's the links I posted: - ilostthegame dot blog spot dot com (posted twice) - stellaandy dot blog spot dot com (posted once) Then I mentioned my suspicions on that very same forum, and asked whether someone would be willing to test is. harrypotterbest tried and got suspended, as did later lumiss, Accio_Pandorica and Gemonkus.

MissKnowItAll I just wrote \\b/l/o/g/s/p/o/t/./c/o/m// (in full) on a comment and the comment was deleted and my account suspended.

misanthrope86 Spam-like comments are also picked up by the spam filter, not just spam links. If you post the same thing multiple times, Fanpop interprets that as spam. And since all that happened in the same forum, I am 99% certain that you and your friends got trapped in the spam filter. Whether you believe that or not is up to you.

malloy I don't believe it for a freaking reason, okay? That forum has seen pages filled with posts saying simply "SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM", which is why I'm finding it exceedingly hard to believe that posting a link got me banned the very first time I ever did it.

cassie-1-2-3 I don't think the spam filters would detect the actual word "spam". If that were the case, it would be against the rules to talk about canned meat as well. Legit spammers wouldn't post "spam spam spam" repeatedly, so there's no reason to go after that. Perhaps posting "spam spam..." at rapid speed over and over again (a.k.a. copy/paste) would do it. That forum is over 1000 pages long and filled with random conversation. I would guess with confidence that blogspot links have been posted 100+ times there. As I'm not sure about spam filters and timing, perhaps it has reached it's quota? I don't know, it's a random guess. As for the individual users, perhaps you guys have also posted blogspot links and the detectors are following you? Since they appear to be random links not posted in the links section.

malloy I've been on that forum since page 115 or so, and as far as I can remember, there's never been any BS links posted. and maybe not the word spam, but an entire page filled with separate posts saying spam? some filters.

Italktosnakes I didn't post mine in the forum, and I still got suspened :L x And I didn't even know what blogspot was before this. Also, my sister (who never goes on this and has a different IP) tried it on a Justin Bieber Forum (I don't know which one) and she's suspended. I don't really care whether it's to do with it or not. All I care about is that if it ism it can be sorted out, so either everyone knows, or it's fixed :L x

malloy ah, it's fine. but hey, I just got a response from Dave - apparently, there's been some problems with spammers using Blogger sites, which is why the links got caught in the spam filters. so technically, I was kinda wrong too... but it's all good now. the banned accounts should come back (except for germany123, I dunno about that one, since it wasn't in the original letter).

[note: when I first made this artikel "clubs" were called "spots" so just imagine anything that says "spot" actually says "club" ;)]

Well it seems like people are always asking how so here is a step sejak step guide on how to with images, yay! (there is a little thing in the faq but people seem to relate to imej better)

Step 1: Make sure anda are on the Fanpop main page

Step 2: cari for the spot first so there are no duplicates (if not then go back to the main page)

Step 3: Scroll down till anda see this image and click "create new spot"

Step 4: Type in the name of the spot...

ATTENTION: This is just a user opinion's on what could be cool for Fanpop.

1. Customize Profile: Everyone likes to have a nice profil homepage, so my first idea is we have a chance of customize our own profile, with backgrounds, colors, fonts etc...

2. Medal Meter: I think every Fanpopers like to know how much are they far to get a medal on the spot, so my 2nd idea is FP give us the chance to see if we are far atau close to get our medal.

3. profil Viewers: How many and what users did check our profile.

4. komen Reply Notice: Be notice in anda kemaskini when someone reply anda in a comment.

5. Possibility to Change User name: Sometimes people don't like their user names...a opportunity to change would be nice ;)

No more nudity and disgusting images!!

Please don't post nude atau indecent pictures in any spot. There are children on this website. Please don't post anything anda wouldn't want your own kids to look at. If an actress is being made fun in a picture please don't post that in their spot. And anda should know better than to post naked pictures of them also. There is a place for those imej and it's called PerezHilton.com. It's disrecpectful to post inhumane pictures of an actress/actor in their spot. This is Fanpop not hatepop. Another issue that has been irking me is duplicate images. I know I have accidently telah diposkan duplicates before...

I feel like it is time that I tell anda how much anda all mean to me and how Fanpop has changed my life. About a tahun lalu I became a stay-at-home mom. Which was really a blessing, however a huge stressor in my life was the fact that I had essentially no adult interaction during the hari and no way of really feeling validated. I found Fanpop one hari while browsing for Office episodes online. I saw the picks and it looked so fun, that I just had to join! Since then I have spent hours everyday on Fanpop. It is my outlet for all the stresses of being a young mother who is nearly solely responsible...

The internet is losing the magical veil of interest it once held over you. You've been on all the really popular sites anda already know about and have eventually grown board of them. Sure anda type into your blog every now and then, but that's not enough to keep anda online for lebih than ten minutes. After a while, anda figure anda might as well look for that episode of The Office anda failed to record, and therefore missed last week.

You type the tajuk of the episode into Google and browse through the first couple pautan that pop up. All of them are broken videos, atau they have very poor quality...

This is merely an addition to Papa's fantastic soapbox artikel on link (a must-read) but some users have still been asking about editing a pick that they've made after they have published it. Here's a very basic how-to.

1. How the Pick's Creator can sunting the pick:
If anda want to add additonal choices to your options atau imej to them, all anda need to do is look for and click on the pencil ikon on the bahagian, atas of your pick. This will take anda back to the pick creation page where anda can freely add new options and image to your heart's desire.

I think this piece is really too short to be considered a proper artikel but I just wanted to give a *high five* to the newly introduced feature, Fanpop's Instant Messaging.
I became aware of this new feature less than 24 hours ago, I'm sure sejak now most of anda guys also have it.
At first, I thought this was just a way of letting users know which other users were online at the same time. But no,it is far lebih awesome.
It's instant messaging between anda and your Fanpop friends.
I Cinta this already so much. I think I've spoken to about 30 atau so different users/friends in...

Ways to help improve our fanpopping skills

Lately there's been a lot berkata and written in the way of articles,picks,etc about the so-called deterioration of the Fanpop site. This is not another heavy-handed artikel about user conduct atau inappropriate behaviour. I do not happen to believe that flogging the same issues over and over again actually benefits the site atau the fanpoppers. So all I've done is put together, in a light-hearted way, what I refer to as the '10 commandments' of Fanpop. Unlike the image, these commandments (tips) are not set in stone,lol, but I think they can be useful in helping one be a better Fanpopper.

Why The Black Background Is Better...

50% of fanpoppers that took my pick 'Do anda like the black background of fanpops homepage?' picked no.

I'm one of the fanpoppers that picked yes and i'll explain why.

The old background was okay, but its main Warna were blue and green; two Warna that don't go together. But the black background doesn't have any Warna that do not match.

The black background is easier on the eye, lebih stylish and makes anda feel lebih relaxed. The old background seems lebih tacky.

I'm sure that homepage will change back to its old blue and green theme as fanpoppers think the black background is 'against the spirit...

Please. NO. Don't. First off, this exact same artikel has been deleted numerous times and this one may be short lived as well if anda don't give NOTABLE info to it. The little website that can and still is.

With Fanpop at it's definite high with the (VERY) baru-baru ini creation of it's own Wikipedia artikel and it's change from beta to complete, I have decided that it is time to write about my own opinion of the site. Please read through and I hope anda will all appreciate my review.

The rating of Fanpop

I've decided to sertai the crowd and do a review of the newly un-betad fanpop. I first joined Fanpop while searching for free episodes of House M.D. I noticed a pick and wanted to put in my two cents. Hence, my life was changed.

It took me a while to get really active. But soon enough I was recognizing usernames and posting content.

This site is great because it is so simple yet so complex. anda like something? Become a peminat of the spot. Spot not there? Make one!

Another awesome thing is that Fanpop really breaks away from the MyFace universe. anda can get personal with other fans, but it's much easier...

Just a few helpful guidelines for new & old users that will help keep Fanpop fantastic:

1. Upload a profil image. Find an image of anda atau of something that represents anda and muat naik it as your user icon. This should be especially easy now that there are perfectly-sized ikon-ikon (100x100) in almost every spot there for anda to use. Otherwise anda are just another green face in the crowd!

2. Rate video and links. It's quick & easy, those who add video and pautan will appreciate your honest opinions/ratings, and it is yet another way for anda to leave your mark on Fanpop!
