Emma clovers turned the corner onto Westward Street. It was a cold night, and the air was damp and heavy. Her red hair whipped around her face as a large gust of wind blew over her. She was in a hurry to get home, anda never know who could be on the streets at night in Denver. Her house was just round the block, Emma was considering jogging the rest of the way, when she had the sudden feeling someone was watching her. She twisted on her heel to find an empty street. “Stop being stupid Emma” she berkata to herself. Then turned back just in time to see a thin metal bar fly towards her head. The last thing she saw was the moon, before she slipped into unconsciousness.
“What have we got” detective Alec Keller asked his partner, Samantha Garrett, whist ducking under the crime scene tape, his coffee nearly slipping out of his hand. He yawned, I shouldn’t be up this early, he thought. He could hardly get enough sleep at all without being called at three in the morning. The insomnia was starting to get to him. They entered a small bungalow, to find a forensics team searching the living room, and another surrounding a white sheet that covered their latest victim.
“Emma clovers, 16, didn’t come utama a few nights ago. Couple of kids broke in and found her here. Forensics says she’s been dead about 24 hours. “
"Prints? DNA?"
"Nothing"
Alec sighed, looks like it was going to be one of those cases. Sam left the room, and he could tell that she wasn’t particularly happy about this case either. Alec bent over the body, and peeled back the sheet, he covered his nose, the stench of dried blood and decomposing flesh, wasn’t something anda got used to, he removed his hand to get a closer look at the body. She was pretty. At least she used to be, her skin was pale white, and her eyes were clouded over. Tangles of red hair were covered in blood stains. And her stomach was covered in scars. They were all new.
“Alec, anda might want to look at this” Sam called, her tone was tense, almost worried. Alec covered up the body, and then went to see what was wrong. As he entered the backroom, he froze, muscles tense.
“Oh S***”
On the back wall, there were hundreds of tiny carvings all of one symbol, Three dots in a row. In the centre of dots was a message. Written in big letters of permanent marker Alec knew it was meant for him.
