In a scene that straddled the line between comedy and tragedy, a stoned dog ate Dan’s donor heart. My initial reaction was laughter, but the lebih I think about it, the lebih I realize it was the perfect alih in this storyline.
Ever since he was released from prison, Dan Scott has been on a road to redemption. He’s tried to atone for his past mistakes, but it hasn’t been easy, nor should it. If he had simply gotten a new heart, it would’ve cheated fans. The new hati, tengah-tengah could be used as a metaphor for the changed man Dan has become.
But One pokok bukit wasn’t interested in an easy fix. Instead, the tunjuk left him with the rotten, blackened hati, tengah-tengah he’s had all along and forced him to change. Through all the lies and deceit Dan has used over the years, that chance to prove himself came when Jamie asked him who killed Keith.
The old Dan would’ve lied atau sugar-coated the truth to make himself look better. The new Dan simply told Jamie the truth, even though his grandson is the only person on the tunjuk who doesn’t completely hate him. It was a difficult decision, but one that allowed him to turn the corner and proved that even though his physical hati, tengah-tengah is dying, his emotional hati, tengah-tengah is capable of healing.
That newfound strength allowed him to confront his two sons on the bola keranjang court and deliver an amazingly heartfelt speech about how terrible he was, how sorry he is, and how great Lucas and Nathan are. It proved that Dan does have a new heart, even if it’s strictly metaphorical.
Perhaps I’m Membaca too much into it, but I also like to think there are added levels of nuance in the way his donor hati, tengah-tengah was destroyed. After the dog ate his heart, Dan went to the pantai and yelled at God for all of the challenges he’s been put through. Is it just a coincidence that dog spelled backwards is God?
On a deeper level, One pokok bukit was saying that God took away Dan’s donor heart, that God was forcing Dan to accept responsibility for who he is. Dan Scott didn’t get a quick fix. A few years in prison atau a new hati, tengah-tengah weren’t enough to make him a better man. God was testing Dan, forcing him to look at himself, to see who he really is, what’s inside his heart, and own up to that truth.
In the end, there is hope for his future. Jamie’s Sims pokok bukit featured Dan getting a new hati, tengah-tengah while Keith sat seterusnya to him. In this virtual world, Keith is still alive and he and Dan still Cinta each other. Sims pokok bukit is a symbol of the perfect ending, of Heaven. After all of the horrible things Dan Scott has done, now there is finally hope that he too can have a happy ending.
