Have anda ever been pressured to vote for the candidate(s) in favour of the candidate(s) that anda wanted to vote for?

Let me tell ya it’s a test of patience because I have literally discussed things like how he is bad for the environment and how his online conduct is unprofessional for someone who is supposed to represent the whole country and they do all sorts of mental gymnastics to justify it and I would counter the points (“cite your sources” “that’s exaggerated” “well the environment was bad anyways”) and eventually they have no other counter arguments but they still refuse to budge even a little. Like they can’t even admit, “ok yeah he did do this one thing that I don’t like.” Like I have no issue with people voting for Trump, that’s their right. It’s the fanatical worship that disturbs me. Just as I am disturbed sejak people who idolized Hilary back in 2016. It’s dangerous to idolize politicians because none of them have the interests of the general public in mind.

That genuinely sounds like torment, good on anda for having the strength to keep going and not just turn off from politics entirely. And yeah it's truly a cult of personality in that some supporters point-blank REFUSE to see any bad in him even after being presented with overwhelming evidence. And like anda said, that happens with other politicians too (Obama, Clinton) and it's not just cringe but actually terrible for political discourse, regardless of who the pollie is. I think it's worse atau lebih widespread with Trump because his constant accusations of "fake news" has basically been gaslighting his followers into not believing their own senses: any news that clearly shows Trump in a bad light is to be questioned and discounted because it's all a conspiracy against him anyway. Which is one component of that "self-sealing belief system" anda alluded to where people try and do mental gymanstics to excuse him from any wrongdoing. It's truly disturbing and it makes me worry a bit about the state of democracy, which can only really flourish when the general population is informed and vote in response to government policy.

But bruh I mostly just see this cult-ish stuff on the internet, I feel for anda having to actually live through it. Wishing anda strength and sanity lol, and if all goes well seterusnya week then maybe the creepy idolisation bubble will begin to deflate.

Lmao it's like when 2009 me was like "Bellatrix is just misunderstood uwu" like nah past me, Bellatrix is a total dick. I Cinta her but she's like the worst lmao. Problem is, Trump is a real person and his harmful actions can hurt others. Like they tend to go into denial mode. I even had someone admit that if they got invited to a makan malam, majlis makan malam with Trump, "he'd probably be so meant to me." And I was like, "then why do anda support him?" "Because he's better than Biden." Which is like, fine, I guess, I'm only supporting Biden because he's not Trump but I'd rather vote for fellow tree-hugger Hawkins lol. Point is, Trump is worshipped like a God. Obama was idolized too and could supposedly do no wrong (which just isn't true either) but it was never to THIS degree. But yeah, I agree I just understand idolizeing politicians. Idolize actors and rockstars, they're mostly harmless when they do dumb shit. Politicians have the power to hurt people with their stupidity.

But yes, that's another scary thing. The blatant brainwashing. It's like book burning's less evil but still sinister cousin. Ignorance is what gets freedoms taken. I think that people SHOULD soalan politicians no matter who is in charge. Yeah, tbh that's kind of why online cult politics don't really phase me anymore. For me it's like, "oh, there's another one. At least this one can't raise their voice at me."

I can see why it would bother you. Though I don't plan on voting for him, anda have a right to vote for who anda want to vote for.
