Chapter 5: A Favour
People always dream about monsters like the boogeyman, atau maybe that mysterious werewolf, atau a creepy bloodsucking vampire. But myself, I live in that dream, and those dreams live amongst you. So is it really just a dream, atau is it your self counsious speaking to anda in a twisted, creative way? I started to wonder if all ledgends about monsters and demons are true.
I drove into La push, although there isnt a treaty line anymore, there are still limits for my family, but of course for some reason i'm untouchable. I began to wonder the point of trying to make sense of it. If all this, what i've grown up with has never scared me, will anything? I started to worry again, about everything that's going to happen. Maybe there is one thing that will always scare me. A visit from the volturi.
As i pulled up into jacobs driveway i saw him peak his head outside of his door. I held my composure, i didn't want to worry him right off. I started to regret having to tell him.
"Nessie?" he asked unsure, I hopped out of the car and smiled.
"Hey jake" He ran towards me and held me in a tight hug. He put me down then looked at the car and then back to me,
"Renesmee, i don't think thats very safe. i dont like it." I rolled my eyes lightly,
"Oh come on, I live with a bunch of Vampires and your worried about me driving" i teased. He sighed, and then smiled.
"So what do anda wan't to do?" he asked excitedly, he was happy to see me. I started to look at him then lebih then just jacob, i started to look at him as my jacob. I bit my lip nervously..
"Actualy, i came down here to talk to you" I berkata in a bit lebih serious tone.
"Okay, shoot" he berkata inviting me to ask him, we started walking . I watched my feet as we walked, hoping that maybe the words would come to me. I felt like i had to be careful with what i said.
"Jacob" He noticed my hesitation, he stopped walking and looked at me.
"Is everything alright nessie?" he asked anxiously
"It's the volturi, they've made thier decision.." His hands wrapped around my arms, He closed his eyes, i could tell he was trying to karang himself. I monitered his reaction. I tried to find thr right way to phrase it.
"Jake, thier either going to let me stay with my family, Take me witht them or," My voice broke off,
His eyes flashed open, "Nessie?" he asked quietly
"Or they might kill me."
"NO!" his voice broke through, He grabbed my hand lightly, "Thoose filthy bloodsuckers aren't going to lay a hand on you, We'll help." His voice slipped into a plural at the end,
"No jake!, anda and your Friends aren't risking your lives just for-" I protested
"Just for what? Just for you? No nessie, your not a just." He berkata angrily. He held my face with his hands "Nessie, anda mean the world to me, anda are my world. Don't ever forget that." he berkata softly.
I looked down and nodded slightly. We made our way back to his house, quil and embry were waiting outside, looking for him.
"Hey jacob!" Quil greeted him "Hey renesmee, havn't seen anda around here in awhile" I smiled and sighed,
"School." They laughed then jacob spoke,
"Quil, embry, we need to discuss somthing." They were all solem now, it's like they knew exactly what kind of talk it was. Jacob turned to me, "Why don't anda head inside, ill be back in a minute." I nodded and made my way in. I took off my shoes and walked over to the couch. Hmm, i guess billy is with grandpa charlie. I walked over to the window sejak the door to check for jacob. I pulled back the curtains, and what, atau who i saw startled me.
"No, not now.." i berkata quietly to myself. He saw me and walked up to the door. I would've just left it, but he would've gotten in somehow. I opened the door slowly and looked up.
"Alex, what are anda doing here? how did anda even know?"
"Well, after anda left i saw anda with him, i followed him back here.." I glared at him "So that's why anda weren't startled sejak me, wow, what are there 8, 9, 10? " He berkata smugly.
"Leave, now." i warned him
"No, anda berkata we would talk, i think now is a good time." he berkata with a sly smile. "Is he here?"
"Yes, i suggest anda leave." I berkata stepping outside, trying to make myself bigger although i knew i was small.
He laughed "I don't think so. I see the way he protects you. If he were here right now, he'd be with you. Not off with others"
"Your.. Your not here to talk are you?" i asked, my voice shaking lightly
"Renesmee, Resnesmee, Renesmee." His voice was almost a whisper now, i started to back up. He followed. " anda know, I thought i loved you. But then my better intincts kicked in. I Would rather.. Get rid of you. See, i never really thought of your name much. Cullen.. I played back and back again in my head. Then i remembered, the legends years lalu about the cullens." He started to yell "They are the reason the rest of my tribe are in the ground!" his voice lowered again "The only ones left are my cousins and I. And they would be very, grateful of my getting rid of you. Just one, would be an accomplishment."
"What are anda talking about!" I demanded, trying to buy time.
" It was about 25 years ago, My mother lived alone with my two cousins and my father. There were five others in the tribe as well, We had figured out what thoose..thoose, Filthy creatures were doing, And went to take care of them, pernamently. Then, what im assuming is the eldest one, tried to talk, but there was no talking thier way out of this. We were ready for a fight. One sejak one my tribe lunged, and one sejak one they went from someone with goals and wishes and dreams to nothing. To a body, to never return back to life. I never knew my father, he died in the battle and my mother died recently due to illness. That's why my cousins and i have returned. Revenge."
I Imagined my family fighting theese people, i took a deep breath,
"No" i whispered. "i am not a full vampire!"
"Which makes the kill easier.." he smiled, an evil sort of smile. a smile of revenge. I looked around the area, alex was closing in on me, he hadn't phased yet, but he wouldn't need to. He could easily kill me right here, right now. Just then i saw seth and sam spot me they ran over. Sam stood infront of me, blocking alexs' way to me and seth stood beside me. Alex and i just stared at each other, him with dark eyes ready to kill, but i, eyes of horror. I barley acknoladged sam and seth.
"Renesmee, what's going on here?" I heard sam ask urgently in his deep voice.
"He's- He's one of you" I whispered. This was the moment that alex decided to make his move,
"Seth, take her back!" i heard sam say. Seth went to pick me up, but alex was fast, sam phased and started at him, but not until he had already got a hit on me. I fell to the ground, i felt his big claws dig effortlessly inTo my arm. Seth was running with me now, I could feel the blood running down my arm, I looked back and saw the two large wolfes stumbling fiercly into the forest. I felt the wave of pain come over me, although i did not make a sound. I didn't want seth to know how badly i was hurt. He laid me down on jacobs bed. I heard jake walk into the house
"Where is she!" He demanded, i guess he heard what happened after sam phased. Seth called him over,
"Get carlisle!" i heard jacob say, seth left immeditely. I still dare not to look at my arm, It hurt less when i didn't think about it. Jacob ran to my side, he was looking around for somthing. Just then i felt him apply pressure to the wound.
He held my hand "Renesmee, i am so sorry" He kept saying until i spoke
"Jake" I winced, "It's okay, it's not that bad" "Im alright" i tried to assure him. He shook his head and closed his eyes.
"I'm so stupid. I should've stayed with you! i should've sent someone!" I stopped him,
"Jacob! Don't beat yourself up over this , this isnt your fault. I should've told you.." a confused look flashed over his face, but no time for questions.The world was fading slowly I heard lebih sets of footsteps, I saw carlisle come, along with my parents. I had then Lost conciousness.
I woke up to the sound of voices yet the room felt empty.I looked around the room, It was my bedroom. I guess they had broughten me back home. I looked out the window, itwas already dark..what time is it? i thought to myself.I noticed i had a headache, and although the pain in my arm had numbed quite a bit, it was still there. I looked down at my arm, three sets of stiches held the wound closed. Just then i remembered the moments, Sam! i thought. Just then my mother walked into the room;
"Edward, she's awake" She walked beside me and pushed my hair away from my face, "How are anda feeling sweetie?"
"Better" I berkata in a small voice. I looked up at my father and smiled lightly, He smiled back and whispered somthing to my mother, she nodded and he walked out. Just then i heard carlisle step in,
"I think that's mine to judge" he smiled at me, "How do anda really feel renesmee"
"Tired" i answered with a yawn. They laughed,
"Renesmee, you've been out for two days" My mother berkata quietly "How could anda possibly be tired?"
"Two days!" I asked surprised
"Well," carlisle said, "It seems reasonable, anda have a minor cunsoussion from the impact, but other then that and the wound, anda should be back to normal and a week atau two".
I nodded. My mother left the room to go talk to carlisle. I tried to focus in on thier conversation, but there were lebih people that interupted it.
"What do anda mean he got away!?" My father demanded.
"We managed to chase him to the canadian border, but Lost him there, he's faster then we expected" Sam's voice boomed.
" Thank-you for trying" I heard my mother say.
I heard the shuffle of feet and the the door close. I lay there in scilence. I was glad sam was alright, I was glad everyone was alright. I Knew i would have to explain everything to jacob. But i also knew that i had to talk to one of the cullens. I needed to know what had happened with the tribe. Just then i heard the front door creak open;
"....And she would be just as safe, if not safer, With us." Jacobs voice protested.
"JACOB BLACK! ARE anda SAYING I CANT KEEP MY OWN DAUGHTER SAFE?" My mother yelled
"Now bella dear, Jacob has a point. They wouldn't look there first.."

"Jacob, Don't take this as an invintation to break our rule. If she figures it out without any foul play then it's her choice. But until she is sixteen.."
I closed my eyes again and drifted. When i awoke my mother was packing my things. I sat up and swung my legs to the edge of the bed.
"Mother?"
"Oh your awake!" she berkata with a smile "What is it dear?"
"Why are anda packing?"
"Your father and jacob are convinced it would be safer for anda to stay at jacobs for a little.."
"Oh, and anda aren't?" She stoped packing for a moment and sat seterusnya to me.
"It's not that anda wont be safe, it's that im not there to make sure anda are. Iv'e never had to be seperated from anda like that since anda were just small..."
I smiled "I understand" she nodded
"Good, Now why don't anda get dressed?" I nodded my head and head over to my closet. After i got dressed i headed out into the livingroom, there was my mother and father standing near the doorway, and jake pacing impatiently. He stood up and went to my side as soon i walked out. I felt like jacob wasnt just a friend, he was a neccesity. Like Makanan atau water, like a plant needs sun , I need my jacob.
"Renesmee, do anda recall anything that happened? Maybe why he would..." My father asked me.
I was scilent for a moment, was it really appropriote to bring it up right now? especially with jake here.. but i guess it's better now then ever.
I cleared my throat,
"Father, do anda remember about 25 years ago.. what had happened? With the tribe."
My father snapped his neck up, "Renesmee, we had no other choice, if they ha-"
"I know, but to them, anda took away everything they had. They remember you, from the stories, all of you. About how carlisle tried to talk but they refused. So now thier back for revenge.."
"Thier?" my mother asked, shocked thier was more.
" There are 16 of them in total but all of them live away except for him and his two cousins." Jacob shook his head,
"No, there are more. A tribe never gives up thier exact amount, he told anda that to throw us off.. so we wont be prepared" Jacob informed us "It's one of the main rules, never let people know your numbers.."
My mother sighed "Renesmee dear, why must anda attract death?" .
"Renesmee, be careful. And jacob, i expect you'll keep in mind our earlier conversation" My father added sternly. Jake nodded and let me out to the car.
