Okay, let me just say that I think 'no' becasue she was already mature and if she matured any more she'd be a like a 75 year old woman. But jokes aside, New Moon didn't really see bella do anything AT ALL. Bella's journey through New Moon is about at least TRYING to live without Edward, to even find a reason to do so. Sure she does some reckless and stupid things but she KNOWS that they're reckless and stupid, so she didn't really mature/not mature. The words "Bella has to/decides to/is helped to mature in New Moon" are thrown around so much in discussions. I know I kinda just contradicted myself by basically ruling out both options I gave as answers to this question but I just want to know what everyone else thinks.

i think that some of the things that she did were quite childish. If she had been more mature it would have been a completely different story. I think that the way that she acts in New Moon is completely against the character that was built up in Twilight. Like why does she continually hurt Jacob but she'll move move away from her mum to make her happier. I don't get it!

Personally I dont think she matured in New Moon. I think she matured towards the end of Eclipse.

This quote just states it. She matured because she finally realised that she was hurting them both and that she finally made a choice. So I agree with oxblondiexo. She wasnt mature in New Moon - but she was surviving the only way she could so I guess that's my answer. I hope this makes sense.

That definently makes sense. Even though I am a strong member of Team Edward, and usually anything to do with that chapter (jacob and bella kiss) makes me cringe, i definently agree with what your saying. >_<
