Totally not as intense (what with werewolves and vampires, and the whole "you're my born enemy" and whatnot) but I have been in a similar situation. It hurts a lot when one person leaves you; in my case he thought it best to break up and then move out of state without telling me where. We were totally in love one second, and the next, he's gone. It really hurts, and you miss them so much; it's difficult to breathe. But then if you start to like someone else, and that pain starts disappearing with the new person, then you get confused. It feels like a betrayal, and it's not totally as RIGHT as it was before with the first person, but you're happy. It gets confusing. Well, anyway. I wound up with my Jacob :) but I can see where Bella's coming from, absolutely. My 'Edward' came back to check on me, and I ended up telling him no. I was too happy with my 'Jake' and I didnt want to risk more heartbreak by getting back together with him. Bella should have known that Edward only left because he wanted her to be safe and have a normal life away from vampires. Now I may not like it, but it was probably a good thing that she had Jacob to comfort her in New Moon, but I was so angry at her in Eclipse when she kissed him back and how all through Eclipse she humoured him and let him think that something might actually happen between them. How would you feel? What had it been like.. six months she'd been crying after her life fell apart after he had left. She'd been tramatized practicaly, I mean hearing his voice and jumping off cliffs for him.
