I don't think anyone can say honestly that women are treated as fair as men.

Neither are treated equally and both have sexist double standards against them. Some examples:

A man can dress and act sexual and it's considered "hot" but a woman does the same she's called a "slut."

A girl calls another woman beautiful it's fine but if a guy calls another guy handsome he's gay.

A girl has short boy-like hair she's a lesbian.

A girl like guy stuff she's a tomboy but if a guy likes girl stuff he's gay.

If a man is a nanny he's a pedophile.

Women getting paid less than men.

A man sleeps around with women he's a player but a woman sleeps around with women she's a slut.

A man shows emotion or kisses his kids than he's a wuss.

Girls can hug their girl friends but if a guy hugs his guy friends he's gay.

A woman is raped by a man it's serious but if a man gets raped no one takes it serious.

TO HELL WITH GENDER DOUBLE-STANDARDS!

I think they are both equally and fairly unfairly treated.

Like one right off the bat to pop in my head. Men can be forcibly drafted. Women are free of that.

Yall realize that your reasons for sexism against men all come from the fact that men are perceived as physically and emotionally stronger? That's sexism that's against women because they're viewed as inferior. Yes, it can backfire against men but it gets them positions of power and THATS why its sexism - think about how female politicians are criticized for having children or periods. That doesn't make it okay and it IS wrong.

Also, as a side note, feminism does support full equality and that includes believing it's wrong men aren't supposed to show emotion. It includes thinking women should have to be drafted into the military. It's just wrong to insist society isn't structured around masculinity.

@Katara For once I completely agree with you. @tamore It doesn't matter what is the root of it. The main thing that matters is sexism against women OR MEN is incredibly wrong and stupid. And you're incredibly bias towards women so I don't completely value your input on this.

Also no one insisted that society wasn't structured around masculinity. You completely took that out of context.

@tamore In addition to what Blind was saying, this question isnt about feminism or sexism, its about how fairly they are being treated. Even given your opinion on the inferiority/superiority root stuff is applicable to what Sexism is about, its irrelevant here being the topic is how they are currently being treated.

Men are treated unfairly in some places.

Women are treated unfairly in some places.

^ sexism... Is the notion that women aren't treated equally... Yes it's totally relevant. and I know men are sometimes treated unfairly. But the overall system still keeps them in power.

@Tamore "Sexism or gender discrimination is prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender. Although sexism is especially documented as affecting women and girls, it can affect any gender." - Wikipedia

It's not a question of which sex is currently in power. It's a question of it women are treated as fairly as women.

Men have had to put up with sexism just as much as women.

And in fact, one could argue that men have it worse because as the quote above stated, "sexism is ESPECIALLY DOCUMENTED as affecting women or girls." which means the sexism towards or against males has gotten less attention.

@Tamore Ugh. Honestly, its too much work to argue with you due to the large bias towards women you have. Wanta took the words out of my mouth. But whatever. SJWs are always the worst to argue against. The arguments always run in circles. So while a dog chasing its own tail is adorable, its not my cup of tea so Im just going to leave and say I disagree with you.

I don't think either sex is treated equally, and I really don't think that the way so many new age feminists are going about it is very productive. I don't, however, think that it's anything that is going to change, and to be honest, I don't know if seeing men and women as one in the same would be any more productive.

While I think things like discrepancies in pay between men and women is ridiculous and needs an end put to it, it's important to recognise that there are genetic difference between the brain structures of men and women. Now, while of course not all of them apply to all people (because, you know, people are] individuals, after all), understanding both the similarities and difference among the sexes can help us all understand each other better and will give individuals the footing they need to succeed however they please- male, female, or inter-sex by applying to strengths and improving weaknesses.

And I don't think that "sexism" is the thing holding anyone back, or racism, or homophobia. Those aren't the things that we need to focus on. Even if we tackle and irradiate those things, humans will find someone else to doom to unjust treatments and we would be right back where we started, just with different names. It wouldn't make anything better, because those things aren't the root of the problem. They're results of something even more deeply imbued within us- our own nature as humans. Humans make generalisations and act upon them, and that's the real problem, not Mr.- Straight- White-Cisgendered- Wealthy- Republican- Christian- Business-Man.

Until we can overcome our nature to make generalisations, humanity will forever be doomed to make these same mistakes and treat others unfairly for silly things.
