I think Fruits Basket would fall under the "half-animal" category... (see the girl holding the cat and the tikus in the banner? The girl is Tohru from Fruits Basket, and the Cat is Kyo Sohma and the tikus is Yuki Sohma. Kyo and Yuki are both people [most of the time])
As anda may be able to tell from my above comment, there are characters who turn into animals, the Sohma family. They are cursed, but I don't believe it counts as "magical". Whenever they are weak atau hugged sejak someone of the opposite gender, they turn into one of twelve Haiwan from the Chinese zodiac- Oh, right! The twelve animals, plus the Cat.


If you're interested in Membaca any mangas, I think anda soalan would scream "+Anima". It's about a group of kids with ability to make themselves part animal (ex., the main character, Cooro, is a gagak +Anima). I'm not sure if that counts as "magical" either, but it's pretty adventurous and dramatic with just the right overtone of humor!
