Not a fan of the third movie or its animation.

She looks more like a human we can relate to, not some dream girl we're being told to be

She has really tiny waist in the first movie, she looks unrealistic. This one is much better.

i think in the 3rd movie she was portrayed as having a little bit of childhood fat, therefore a bit chubby. Whereas in first she's 16 and have shed most of her chubbiness. Having said that, i prefer her in this.

Belle, Jasmine, Aurora, Cinderella, Pocahontas, Mulan, Rapunzel, Snow White, and Tiana ALL HAVE a really really small waist, too? Why single out Ariel???? I don't see people hating these other girls' original designs in their original movies.

^Oh? How is that really an opinion? Why doesn't Belle have a bigger waist, for example? Should we pick on Belle for having a tiny waist? Why don't we treat Ariel with the same decency with which we treat Belle.

It is hypocrisy. It's hypocrisy disguised as "an opinion.'" And no. I don't have to respect hypocrisy.

She is like a "stump" in the 3rd movie XD She hasn't got a figure at all imo.

I think part of the reason people think her waist is too thin is because of how big her head is in proportion to her whole body.

That being said, this seems closer to what I consider a good (while healthy) waist than the other option.
