For me Adams & Dempsey as their charcther's in Enchanted reminded me of Ariel & Eric.

These two, even though I think they are too old to play them...Ariel is only 16...

I think she's about 31, so actually not too old. Sierra Boggess was only 4 years younger.

I think they'd need to find an actress who isn't currently famous, because I'd hate to see any of the current young tweeny actors as Ariel, but people like the actresses here are way too old in my opinion. I don't think anyone currently famous could pull off the part. I didn't pick because I didn't really want to add something like 'an unknown actress' because it doesn't seem like a real answer.

I don't think having a physical similarity to Ariel is enough to make up for being way too old to pass for 16. Being young is a key part of Ariel's character, her youth affects so much of her actions and the actions of those around her, it's important to the story. They would have to retool the story so much it wouldn't be the little mermaid anymore to make an older actress fit, which would essentially just turn it into splash. Sierra Boggss was older than Ariel, but that's on Broadway, you can get away with an actor being too old on stage much easier than in a movie.
Nothing against the actresses listed, I think they're all very talented, but being a good actor or sharing a physical trait like hair colour isn't enough to make someone right for a part. Like Alan Rickman is very talented and has grey/white hair, but I don't think he should play Ursula, you know? Or, wait. Maybe I do, lol.

I think Mandy is rather good actress, and she has pretty sweet voice. I'm not sure about Franco, but I've seen one picture of him when he looks like Eric, so... If not him, than Marsden.

I agree with Mermaid-Tail. Some of these are really good (like James Marsden) but I think for Little Mermaid they'd be best on broadway, not in an actual movie. As Mermaid-Tail said, I think its better to have unknown actors/actresses for something like this. But for broadway theyd be fine.

I definitely agree with Mermaid-Tail and Mongoose09. All these people are talented but they're too old to play 16-year-old Ariel and 18-year-old Eric. It'd be better to find unknown people to play the couple.

They have very similar chemistry to Eric and Ariel, IMHO.
