"Dad, we need to talk," I announce as I walk in the house. "Dad? Are anda here?" I ask. I'm answered with silence. "Probably down at the shop," I mumble to myself.
"Kodi? Why do anda always assume he's utama when we are? He's been down in the kedai till seven for years. anda know that" my little brother Jo reminds me in his know-it- all way. Typical freshman. And slightly like Rachel.
"Well for awhile he made sure he was here when we got home. Just an old habit of mine I guess." Jo responds something incoherent.
"Well, I'm going to the shop, if anda want to come," I offer, knowing he'll stay here.
"Nah, I have things to do," Jo walks into the dapur for his "things to do" which is eating and playing video games. I roll my eyes and head for my car.
As I pull in to Dad's shop, cars take every parking spot. I pull around back and park seterusnya to Dad's truck.
"Hey Kodi! Haven't seen anda in awhile," Lacy, Dad's secretary says as I walk in the shop's waiting area.
"Yeah, I've been busy." I actually avoid the kedai at all costs. Too many bad memories.
"Have anda seen my Dad? I need to talk to him," I ask Lacy.
"He's working on the black BMW. But the kedai has been busy all hari and Caleb didn't tunjuk up, so he might not be in the best mood," Lacy warned as I entered the garage.
The smell of brake fluid, oil and gas hit me as stroll through to my father.
I say hi to Ron, the other mechanic and finally find Dad under the BMW.
I lightly kick his foot.
"What is it now?" He groans from under the car.
"Hi Dad." He pokes his head out to see me.
"Kodi? What are anda doing here? anda never come to the kedai anymore," he says dusting himself off.
"Well its important, I think."
"You think? Kodi, we're really busy today and this better be good for anda to interrupt. Caleb didn't show, so the load is a bit heavy."
"Dad, do the words dimension jumping mean anything to you?"
His face went pale and his jaw tightened.
" Kodi, where did anda hear about that?" his voice became low and very serious.
"I had one of my "Daydreams" today and I met a little girl who called me a Dimension jumper," I said.
"We need to up your adderall dosage. We need to go home, now." He said, leading me to the door.
"What? Why?" I ask, but he doesn't answer.
"Lacy, I'm leaving for the day. Have Ron close up. I have to deal with something," he calls still leading me to my car. She looks as confused as I feel. She only nods in reply.
"Drive strait utama okay. I'll follow you," He says as I get in my car.
I can't help but be a little relieved that he didn't laugh and call it a silly daydream. But on the other hand, his seriousness is slightly unhinging.
