I don't entirely agree on your view of Elena's character. I like her better in the books. In the beginning of The Awakening I too hated her. She was a selfish, bitch. But later she changed, learned to care about others so I came to Cinta her in the end. What I don't like though is how both Stefan and Damon are waiting for her choice like their life depends on who Elena will choose. She's just a girl!
